AN EXAMINATION OF Dr. BURNET'S Theory of the Earth.

Chap. I.

Religions could pretend to? And tho our holy Faith stands so well confirmed by real miracles, that we are neither to make nor admit of any false ones, yet certainly we are not to detract from the value of the true ones, by pretending to deduce them from Natural and Mechanical causes, when they are no ways explicable by them. It is therefore both the easiest and safest way, to refer the wonderful destruction of the old world to the Omnipotent hand of God, who can do whatsoever he pleases.
