rege Commageno: Antiochus, king of Commagene, a district on the northern border of Syria.
pertumultuose: although the regular superiative form tumultuosissime is used in his orations, e.g. in Verr. 2.2. 37, here Cicero prefers the colloquial form with per-. Similarly in the Letters Cicero uses the intensive forms peracer, peramans, and perlubens, while in his other writings only the regular superiative forms are used to indicate the possession of a quality in a very high degree. Cf. also Intr. 77.
